“I’m Loving It”, “Just Do It”, “Have It Your Way”… The world is full of buzzwords. But when you get down to it, what do they really mean?
When Cardiology Northwest joined the Animal Care Group of Lake Oswego in 2014 we were presented with the unique opportunity to rethink everything. As a team, we sat down and discussed who and what was most important about our practice. The answer? You! Our patients and the clients who love them are the reason we show up every morning.
During this planning phase, we came up with the simple mission statement that we would build upon:
Collaboration for Compassionate Care through World-Class Medicine
So what does this look like?
Collaboration is “the action of working with someone to produce or create something.” As a member of your pet’s medical team, we work with you, your primary care veterinarian, and other specialists to create a superior patient care experience.
In the past, your primary care veterinarian may have sent you to a cardiologist and expected the specialist to take over any and all cardiac care. Here, we keep your veterinarian at the heart of your pet’s care. Instead of recommending that you visit our office two or more times per year, we work closely with your general practitioner to manage your pet’s heart health through routine diagnostics such as x-rays and lab work. Your pet benefits from a specialist’s expertise AND the convenience of visiting your trusted primary care veterinarian. You’ll even receive reminders from us when it’s time to visit your veterinarian’s office for heart-related diagnostics!
We also go the extra mile to make sure everybody on your pet’s team has up-to-date information. Following every visit with Cardiology Northwest, your pet’s exam notes are sent via fax or e-mail to every practice involved in their ongoing care and heart health management.
As we introduce our inclusive approach to specialty medicine, we keep encountering one question: why? The answer is that we’re stronger together. If primary care veterinarians take over routine exams and diagnostics, Cardiology Northwest can provide superior availability and accessibility for emergency and critical cases. In the event that your pet’s heart condition becomes more critical, their entire health team will be in the know and able to provide the best possible care.
So what do you think? We’d love to hear from you about our collaborative model!
