For over 30 years Cardiology Northwest has proudly partnered with local rescue and non-profit organizations such as Guide Dogs for the Blind, Cat Adoption Team (C.A.T.) and Lovers Not Fighters. Collaborating with countless rescues, volunteers and veterinarians, Dr. Wood has managed the cardiac care of many pets who had seemingly run out of options. There is no joy quite like giving a rescued animal a new lease on life. We love watching these underdogs (and cats!) find their forever homes and blossom into full-fledged family members.

In an ideal world, every family would have the resources to properly treat their furry friend’s cardiac condition. Unfortunately, this is not always the case.

Cali_Pink_Bow

With help from generous donors and a dedicated medical team, Cali’s complicated heart condition is being medically managed.

Recognizing this need Kaitlin Bishop and Christy Drackett, the incredible staff of The Big Hearts Fund, are doing everything in their power to level the playing field! The Big Hearts Fund is a 501c3 non-profit organization that raises funds and awareness for pets diagnosed with heart disease. Both Kaitlin and Christy are deeply connected to the Big Hearts Fund mission, having been impacted on a personal level by animal cardiac disease.

The Big Hearts Fund’s general fund has provided full or partial scholarships to 60 pets and counting! 95% of all public donations go directly to funding patient’s’ treatment. These donations help cover expensive annual diagnostics, or time-sensitive surgeries. For more extreme cases the organization also launches a private fundraising page. This was the case with adorable Bella and Hunter. Theirs and other heartwarming stories are available on The Big Hearts Fund website.

Through an outpouring of love and generous donations, little Layla was able to undergo life-saving curative surgery.

We at Cardiology Northwest strongly agree with the Big Heart Fund’s core belief: pets’ lives are valuable and important, and they have a right to appropriate veterinary care regardless of the financial status of their owners.

During the month of November, we will be collecting donations for The Big Hearts Fund’s general fund. At the end of the month we will match those client donations**, doubling your contribution!

Cardiology Northwest is excited to partner with The Big Hearts Fund, raising awareness of animal heart disease while giving back to the community we love! After you donate we will add your pet’s name to our Donor Wall, and enroll you in a one-time digital mailing list (if desired). That digital newsletter will contain information regarding which pet your generous donation has helped!

Heart disease is a scary diagnosis. While making important health decisions for furry family members, financial concerns are an unfortunate additional stressor. However, through charitable organizations like The Big Hearts Fund and generous donors, we can begin to turn the tables. Because our underdogs have a lot of heart too! We want to help them beat the odds!
